Confidence in the gym

I realized I've gotta be more assertive in the gym. And less "oh I don't really wanna be near people when I'm working out". It's really starting to mess with my workouts. I guess I'm just not used to there being more than 5 people in the gym when I'm there, back home at the 24 hour it's the same 3 people and then Amanda, Mil, and myself. In Aurora there are a lot more people and a lot more people who are on weird schedules so going to the gym at 11 at night isn't an odd thing.

Started with 30 minutes on the stair master. That thing is evil but I love it so -- I always go back to it.So I did chest today, a little bit. Though I couldn't find the 7.5 lb dumbbells to do my flyes so I ended up using the cable cross for those...I don't like those types of flyes as much. But adapt and overcome I suppose. A bit of abs too, but I seem to always put in a few sets of crunches or hanging leg raises no matter what I'm working that day. My abs have always been the hardest for me to cut, even just a little bit. Best advice I ever got -- you can never overwork your weakest body part. I'm still not sure if legs or abs wins out, but I think it's easier to overwork your legs than your core.

A little note, I was on the hunt for some not horrible tasting whey protein and got a whole bunch of suggestions form friends on Facebook. Back home I'm trying to get through a huge 2 lb tub of MRM chocolate whey and it's killing me! Anyway, friends suggested ON or Syntha-6, I haven't tried either yet. When I got to Colorado I went to GNC to get a little thing of something for while I was here and for once the GNC dude gave me some good advice. He first suggested muscle milk when I said I wanted a "good tasting" whey powder and I cringed. I'm not sure about the powder but I've never been a fan of the ready to drink muscle milk so I didn't think it would be any better. He suggested a couple others but they were only sold in 2-5 lb tubs that I didn't want to travel with, especially since I'm going to Texas before heading back home. So finally it came down to Cellucor which had a small 12-serving bag of chocolate whey. I have to say it is freakin' amazing! It's not chalky, chunky, bitter, blah, or any of the other descriptors I have used for previous protein powders. I'll probably stick with this for a bit until I get sick of it, I'll buy a bigger one when I get back home and maybe mix it with the MRM I have left just to get rid of it. Then I might try to switch to something else. I like the Cellucor because it has BCAAs and glutamine in it, so it's a little better for recovery.

Well, that's my update for today. No gym tomorrow (today? Thursday) because I'm getting my tattoo finished up. Who knows though, I'm getting the tattoo done early enough that I might be able to squeeze in a midnight session. It would probably be best since it might be the last time I can go to the gym until I get back home. We shall see.
