Not off to a good start

Perhaps I chose the wrong time to start my countdown to this competition. Ha! I'm currently away from home for another 9 days, total vacation time being 26 days, and working on finishing up a rather large back tattoo. Because of being away from home it's hard to eat the way I want to (plus, there are a billion Chipotles back home!) and I'm not on any sort of schedule to plan for the gym. The healing of the tattoo has already cut out 4 days of the gym for me, not to mention hanging out with friends in the evening. The easiest way for me to catch up with old friends is by going out to eat, too, drinks sometimes (I've drank more alcohol on leave than I have in the past year). So not only am I spending a lot of money on food and drinks but I'm not eating like I should be.

When I left for leave I weighed 118 lbs, but still had about 20.4% body fat. Ideally I would like to walk on stage with 13% or somewhere around there, depending on how everything looks near the end. My mom's scale is most likely not accurate to mine back home because it says today I am 126 lbs. I'm not entirely sure but 2 weeks of leave shouldn't cause an 8 lb gain, right? I've been hitting the gym as often as possible so there might be slight gains in muscle without the loss of fat, so maybe, but I'm skeptical. I don't have my body fat doohickey here so I don't know what my percentage is, but I'm going to say it's probably around the same as when I left.

Today I have dinner with my parents and god parents and then I'm hitting the gym for chest and shoulders. Light-ish cardio depending on how my legs feel, but leg day was pretty brutal :-O I have found one huge motivator for me during cardio in the gym -- watching surf videos while I'm on the machines! Watching those crazies get out in the water and do what they do (and knowing a lot of them have done it since they were little kids!) just sucks me in and I forget I'm running on a machine for awhile. So I guess that's the key to staying on top of my cardio -- finding something I love enough to distract me.

I'm heading to Texas on Saturday for about a week and honestly don't think I'll be going to the gym at all during my time there. I'll probably just work on some body weight exercises at home and keep trying to eat clean. We'll see how this goes :-/
